In the second part of the 2012 recruiting series I will breakdown the offensive recruits. Due to the amount of offensive recruits/athletes I'm going to break it down into two parts. We'll start out with one of the most anticipated QB recruits in recent memory.
Tavarious "Tay" Bender
Position: QB
Height and Weight: 6-3 208
What stands out: Vision- Bender showed that he can run the option very effectively and he seemed to have a pretty good idea of where the next tackler was coming from.
Skill Set: Vision (see above)... Accuracy- This took a little finding, but I found some more highlights of him and he seemed to be able to put the ball right where it needed to be just about every time... Elusiveness- In watching him he just seems to find a way to get through a hole and into the endzone.
Where he fits in: When Snyder first came back to say his options at QB were limited would be putting it very optimistically, but now it can be said that it is one of our deepest positions. Next off-season will be very interesting to see who takes over for Collin Klein, red shirt Sophomore Daniel Sams or red shirt (most likely) freshman Tay Bender. I have heard conflicting reports on gray shirting and if Bender is now unable to gray shirt, but if he can he should as that will make him only a junior when Sams is expected to graduate (2016). If he can't gray shirt I expect him to change positions to WR or on defense somewhere.
Other notes: Bender has a pretty good squat (420) and bench (255) for a high school senior. His speed is not particularly impressive but much like Collin Klein he is pretty lanky and gets most of his rush yards out of long strides. Bender got a look from Nebraska but K-State was the only BCS school to give him an offer.

TB is experiencing technical difficulties and is probably being instructed to power cycle his modem to resolve the issue. This of course might work but if it doesn't a technician will be dispatched in 2-14 days to resolve the issue.

And some thoughts from the KCStar on the K-State's latest recruiting class.
In the first part of this four part series breaking down the offensive, defensive and a pre-spring depth chart I will breakdown the JUCO talent and give what stood out to me, skill sets, and how I think they will contribute next fall. We'll start off with the highest rated JUCO in the class: Marquez Clark.
Marquez Clark
Position: WR
Height and Weight: 6-0 180 lbs
What stands out: The kid has got some hops. In the video on K-State's site Clark made the DB's look silly as he just jumped over their heads to make the catch.Looks to give Collin Klein a nice big target for down field passing, especially in the end zone.
Skill Set: Jumping (see above). Agility- In one of the clips he successfully strafes the sideline for around 9 yards to avoid getting tackled. Hands- In several of the clips Clark took passes of over 40 yards and seemed to have no problem making the catch, plus with 98 receptions in a season you know this guy can catch.
Where he fits in: Clark should be an excellent addition to an already strong receiving corps that includes Tramaine Thompson, Chris Harper, a healthy Tyler Lockett and Curry Sexton and hopefully the return of Brodrick Smith from his injury/suspension/benching from last year. I would expect Clark to contribute right away and for his possible position in the depth chart to be anywhere from 1-4.

Games like this suck the witty quips and fun facts right out of you.
After dropping a second game in three weeks to the Oklahoma Sooners, I've decided to run quickly through Three Goods, Three Bads, and player grades.
Following, we'll delve into key factors in the Wildcats success and failures throughout the Big 12 docket so far.

Dude, Tech really sucks. I’d give our players a grade, but does it matter? As long as anyone on the team played better than ‘D-’ we were going to win that game. Also, I was chatting with you guys, so like I really paid attention to that crap game.**
12.
That's how old I was when K-State last won against Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
This fact - that the Wildcats have had such a lack of success in Stillwater since 1993 - seemed to keep coming up. And again. And yet again. You couldn't read any sort of preview about this game without that fact being mentioned. Never mind the Pokes were 9-9, 2-3 in Big 12 play. There are two constants in basketball in this conference: 1) It's ALWAYS hard to play on the road, and 2) It's ALWAYS hard to play in Gallagher-Iba.
This trip would be no different. Seeing the various Jekyll-and-Hyde moments our team has, it obviously stood to reason that we should win the game, but we could just as easily get run out of the gym.

It was the best of games, it was the worst of games, a time of hope and a time of despair. Building a 15 point lead at 7:40 in the first half again shows that this year's Cats can play excellent basketball. Not scoring for almost the next four minutes while the other team erases the lead, shows that the team still has not quite solved all problems.
Overall the team didn't play horrendous but the team did not play their best game either. I'm not sure if the game is a positive or a negative since I saw both good and bad. Texas was able to out hustle the Cats for easy points in transition which is not a positive, but the Cats were able to cause quite a few turnovers. Could not shoot free throws but shot 46% for three pointers and 47% for field goals.
I'm starting to reach the conclusion that games for the rest of the year are going to be like this one and not like the Missouri (best game of the year by the Cats) or Alabama (2nd best game) games.
Starters (Pts/Rebs/Asts/Fouls): Rodney McGruder (33/8/2/2), Jamar Samuels (14/4/2/4), Will Spradling (11/1/3/3), Thomas Gipson (11/6/1/3), Angel Rodriquez (4/1/2/4)
