Well, if it's any consolation

we haven’t really done THIS yet this season. And by THIS, I mean up 12 points on the #3 team in the country on THEIR home court. Call me crazy, but I like to think we keep up the intensity in the second half.

If we keep up the intensity on the defensive end and keep working the ball down on offense, I like our chances.

We’re doing a couple of different things on the offensive end, running our cuts from the baseline closer to the paint. Letting us get the ball down in better.

Here's hoping they keep doing whatever they're doing

It’s less that the zone is bad and more that when our man defense is good I don’t want to ever leave it. Though obviously it’s designed to avoid fouling. Unfortunately we did foul twice in the zone.

That's why it was good! But I was surprised he went for the block that far out too. I wonder if he'll be told don't do that in the future.

Yup.

We know they’re going to hit some of the shots they’re missing next half.

Key is to keep the intensity up. With the defense and rebounding we’re bringing thus far we should be in solid shape.

A positive is how much JO and Angel rested and avoided their third fouls. They were both playing very well (not that the team got worse when they were on the bench).

A negative is I have a bad feeling this is going to turn into a grinder for the final eight minutes. Going to need to hit FTs (which we’ve done thus far).

Can we just arrange to do that all the time? Sprads can shoot a few from time to time. Also, could Rod challenge Keiton Page’s 20 for 20?

VO typically doesn't make mistakes.

If someone needs a rest because of fouls or just to gain some bench time … VO is typically able to gain some time in a positive manner. (doesn’t always work).

Well, to be fair, both the teams we just beat aren't really top ten teams.

We beat them, so they obviously were overrated.

The team played extraordinarily well.

And let history show us – does this look a bit familiar? Oh right, Frank Martin’s team play best in February.

I think a lot of us gotta eat some crow. This team isn’t always fun to watch, but damn they play tough and when they hit shots and make plays like this they can beat absolutely anyone.

A great win over Mizzou. I love to see them slink away from KSU as losers in their own house. I wouldn’t mind getting them in the tournament again, but beating a team like that 3 of 3 in one year is damn tough. But then again, so is beating a number 3 ranked team on their own floor.

One big difference in our games: Jordan Henriquez.

When he plays like he has since the KU game, we can beat anyone. He makes an enormous difference.

And love for Jamar is long overdue. Yes he manages to miss layups in spectacularly failed ways, but his energy is always great. He draws fouls with the best of them. His FT improvement is just incredible.

But he hit a HUGE 3 and then another long jumper to give us breathing room. That is big stuff for Rod. Get some of that Closer stuff in him.

To be fair, Frank said last week that Rod finally was able to practice again at full strength.

His foot was clearly bothering him. Now he’s healthy. And wearing a sleeve. And playing awesomely.

I complained on another thread that this team is too nice, but man I welled with pride when he didn’t want to rub it in like Mizzou did to us two seasons ago.

It was classy though.

Maybe my second favorite play of the game (behind that amazing pass/dunk between Angel and JO when the Cats HAD to have a bucket) was Rodney getting that rebound with <40 seconds left and then flying around the court. Fantastic play.

When he got back from dinner right after the game ended, he was furious, saying how much he now hates K-State and that KU getting a share of the conference title will be all our fault.

Not sure why it is hard to admit that your team was outplayed.

Excepting games like ours in Austin where the refs clearly had a major influence.

If you lose, you lose … just admit the other team outplayed you that particular night.

I can’ say that K-State was jobbed in either of our losses to KU this year. We were out played plain and simple, end of story.

Well..

It looks like MU wasn’t able to grow that 3" since our last game, after all.

A couple of guys over on Rock M Nation are hoping for a rematch in the B12 tourney. Unless they grow that 3", I don’t think they’ll like that outcome any better.

If your team is off to a team for both games … it might be because the other team outplayed you. It is not luck, karma or anything other than possibly that your team does not match up well against the team that beat you by 10 points both times.

If you want to think it was luck … then you are starting to sound like KU fans when KU loses.
