RPI WATCH: 2/13/12

So, which was most ignominious?

Alabama suspending four of its five starters and subsequently losing a winnable road game at LSU?

Southern Illinois allowing Indiana State to shoot an NCAA-record 12 of 12 3-pointers? Holy Toledo, that's bad.

West Virginia losing its second straight home game, and fifth game out of six, to drop further onto the bubble after a promising start? The Big East is giving it to the Mountaineers without lube on their way out, I swear.

No, the honor probably has to go to woeful Oklahoma, riding a four-game losing streak (and six of their last seven) and fresh off an embarrassing, 18-point slumpbuster loss to previously winless Texas Tech.

But there's always a silver lining. Big ups to Loyola Chicago, which after 13 straight losses finally won its first Horizon League game under first-year coach Porter Moser. It's about damn time.

Star-divide

Overall Record = 17-7

Big 12 Record = 6-6

Top 50 Record = 4-5

RPI = 53

SOS = 77

Signature Wins (RPI 1-30) = Missouri

Quality Wins (RPI 31-100) = Virginia Tech, Alabama, Long Beach State, Texas

Bad Losses (RPI 101 or greater) = Oklahoma (x2)

RPI of 53, and yet still considered in by a lot of people? Win loss isn't bad, but that one win over MU sure must carry some weight.
The real anchors are the two losses to OU.

Ouch.

It does.

Also, our RPI has jumped up more than 20 spots after the Baylor win.

RPI ain’t over until all game returns are in.
