No. 2 seed Kansas St. Wildcats (26-7) VS. No. 15 seed North Texas Eagles (27-8)
NCAA Tournament — First Round
Ford Center — Oklahoma City, Okla.
Thursday, March 18 — approx. 1:40 PM CST
CBS Sports | March Madness On Demand
It's time for March Madness!
Only four No. 2 seeds have fallen in the first round since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams, which equates to a 2-seed success rate of 98 percent.
Let's hope the Cats keep their eyes on the prize and don't become the fifth.
They should handle this game with ease, but any team capable of losing to Iowa State at home on Senior Night also is capable of losing to a mid-major conference tournament champion.
As always, "survive and advance" is the name of this game.
For K-State's game notes, follow the jump.

From the K-State Sports Information Department:
Kansas State (26-7, 11-5 Big 12) was rewarded for its successful season on Sunday night, when the Wildcats earned their 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their second in the last three seasons by receiving an at-large bid to the tournament.
The squad was selected as a No. 2 seed in the West Regional and will travel to Oklahoma City, to play No. 15 seed and Sun Belt Conference champion North Texas (24-8, 13-5 Sun Belt) at the 17,611-seat Ford Center today.
The winner will advance to play either No. 7 seed BYU (29-5, 13-3 MWC) or No. 10 seed Florida (21-12, 9-7 SEC) on Saturday, at a time to be determined.
The Wildcats and Mean Green will play 30 minutes after the conclusion of the contest between BYU and Florida, which is slated to begin at 11:40 a.m.
The four teams will be joined in the Oklahoma City bracket by No. 1 seed Kansas, No. 8 seed UNLV, No. 9 seed Northern Iowa and No. 16 seed Lehigh, who all play in the Midwest Regional second session tonight.
All the games in Oklahoma City will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports, with Kevin Harlan (play-by-play) and Dan Bonner (analyst) on the call.
K-State is making its 31st postseason appearance, which includes 24 in the NCAA Tournament and seven in the National Invitational Tournament.
It marks the fourth consecutive postseason appearance for the Wildcats and the first in the NCAA Tournament since losing to No. 3 Wisconsin 72-55 in the second round of the Midwest Regional, in Omaha, Neb., on March 22, 2008.
The four straight postseason trips are the most since the school advanced to the NCAA Tournament each season from 1987 to 1990.
The program has posted a 28-27 (.509) all-time record in NCAA Tournament play, including a 9-4 mark in first-round games.
The school will be making its fifth appearance in the West Regional and the first since 1987, with an 8-6 record all-time.
The No. 2 seed is the highest for K-State since seeding began in 1979, surpassing the previous high of a No. 4 seed in 1988.
It marks just the sixth time that that Wildcats have earned a seeding of eight or better in the NCAA Tournament.
In the program's 23 previous NCAA Tournaments, the squad has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen a total of 16 times, reached 11 Elite Eights, made four Final Four appearances and played in one NCAA title game.
The Wildcats were one of a Big 12-record seven teams to earn berths in the NCAA Tournament, joining No. 1 seed Kansas, No. 3 seed Baylor (South), No. 5 seed Texas A&M (South), No. 7 seed Oklahoma State (Midwest), No. 8 seed Texas (East) and No. 10 seed Missouri (East) in the field.

Man, who wants to be Jeff Capel right now? Just when he probably was sighing in relief that their horrible 13-18 season finally is over, this happens.
I think I know where the house-cleaning might begin…
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Yeouch.
13-18 now seems like their smallest worry…
VegasCat07 - March 18, 2010
I know a certain purple school that wouldn't mind taking
TMG off their hands….
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
The greatest of tragedies
is when you’re breaking the rules and still suck.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
LOL
So true.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
So how about that Robert Morris - Villanova game?
R. Morris up 6 with 9.45 left in the game.
They must be prayin’ hard down in Waco..
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Up 2 now
with 7.21 left. Looks like ‘Nova showing them why they’re the 2 seed
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
RMC up by 8 now
3:57 to go. ’Nova’s in trouble.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Damn glad I have Nova losing to Baylor in all my brackets
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
+ sideways 8
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
BYU-FLORIDA
into overtime. Will delay the start of the K-State game.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
great comeback by Florida so far
We were thisclose to the first buzzer beater of the tourney.
checklight - March 18, 2010 via mobile
Well the shot wasn't close
If only there had been one more second on the clock…
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Man, this game is crazy
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
This is PERFECT for us
Wear ’em all out!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
there is a KU fan in my section that is 'roid raging for Florida
Endless source of amusement
checklight - March 18, 2010 via mobile
Douche
I wouldn’t cheer for the Hawks if I was there, but I wouldn’t cheer against them, either.
It’s all about conference pride at this point.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
'Nova is cutting it close.
I did read that 2 starters are on the bench today.
goksucats - March 18, 2010
They didn't start
but they’ve been playing.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Hmmm...Notre Dame lost.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
I am perfectly OK with that
even if I had them winning the first one.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Heh, called that
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
That "steal" was the direct result of a blatant hack
on Fredette… uncalled.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Cardiac set of events there.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
We might get on the court
by dinnertime.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I'm OK
with these guys wearing themselves out.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
If K-State wins...maybe we'll get to face a tired team.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Without a doubt
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Double OT?!
You have got to be kidding me.
checklight - March 18, 2010 via mobile
Minute to go, RMC still hanging on
58-56
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Potentially devastating to da Prez' bracket
MadCat - March 18, 2010
LOL
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I'm loving this MMOD
I’ve been switching back and forth on the games – while working!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I finally got out of there
Stupid work. :-)
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Kyle Whelliston
is creaming himself right now, guaranteed.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Is that the mid-major guy?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Yup
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
RMC - 'NOVA
OVERTIME! Scottie Reynolds couldn’t deliver.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I hope we don't have to experience what Villinova fans are going through.
goksucats - March 18, 2010
I would prolly throwup all over my work computer.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Martin had the team analyze the movie Gladiator.
Let’s see how the pumped these guys will be!
goksucats - March 18, 2010
They should have studied North Texas instead...
Just my opinion.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
True, but it was on the bus ride to OKC
goksucats - March 18, 2010
Ah, gotcha. :D
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Anyone know why there's no audio link at kstatesports.com?
What gives? NCAA rights?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
No MMOD for you?
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I got CBS on the tube
Just wanted to hear pregame.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
BYewwwwwwww
MadCat - March 18, 2010
With 96 teams, I won't be able to read the names of the teams on a single page printed bracket. :(
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Colonials still scrapping
despite three starters having fouled out. They play some very tenacious D.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
"With karate I'll kick your ass..."
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Nice
clintox100 - March 18, 2010
Holy crap.
Just an amazing game here.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
+1
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Verne Lunquist has to be retarded
I know we all understand this already but I just don’t understand his random yelling and phrases. I swear he is worse than Bob and Brent
Clubbzilla - March 18, 2010
Lundquist is OK
I think you’re thinking of Raftery. He’s a Tourette’s-stricken dolt.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Thats it! I always get them confused. Its verbal assault on the ears
Clubbzilla - March 18, 2010
Indeed
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Hey now
I like Raftery. Lundquist can stick with figure skating.
GCat - March 18, 2010
I don't know why the Villanova guy wanted to run out the clock instead of score another basket.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
DEEP THREE!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
D'oh! So close
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Aw. man
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Nearly cost them, too
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Oh, well
At least now ’Nova gets to lose to a Big 12 team, right? ;D
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
'Nova
Wins in extremely unimpressive fashion..
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
What have we learned so far?
The bottom seeds are gonna COMPETE this year.
Murray State leads Vandy. Sam Houston State jumped out on Baylor. Robert Morris took Villanova to overtime. Florida took BYU to DOUBLE overtime. And Old Dominion WON.
Phew. Let the madness continue. It’s gonna be a hell of a tournament.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I hope our game is easy.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Sorta makes 96 not look so ridiculous...
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Except that a lot of these teams probably would be eliminated in the play-in games
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Well I don't know about that
those 66-96 teams won’t make it to the Final Four.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I'm one of those who don't think that matters
I mean, Robert Morris wasn’t going to the Final Four either, but if they’d won that game we’d remember them forever.
And there’s one other minor consideration that nobody takes into account: every time you win a game, it’s more money for you and your conference. Every chance the mid-majors get to do so increases their financial ability to work toward closing the competition gap — which is good for everyone, quite honestly.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Of course, that pie would be split 32 more ways
And I doubt the mid-majors will get many more pieces. It’ll be mediocre power conference teams like Tech, Arizona State, etc.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Never thought about the money issue
But there’s still a huge gap in the top tier teams and the lowly mid-majors. Remember, Robert Morris/Murray State/etc. are the elite teams in their conference. They “might” be able to compete with the bottom half of the power conferences. Not sure how much of a gap they can cover.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Not saying it will completely close the gap
but every little bit helps.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Well, right now they're competing with the top half
Which is where Vandy and Nova both finished.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
In theory anyway
Through in the factors that ’Nova is looking ahead and RMC has to give it their all.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Also:
Murray wasn’t the only excellent team in the OVC. Robert Morris wasn’t the only good team in the NEC — they didn’t even win the regular season title.
Really, that’s the ultimate issue. Either the NCAA has to say “Look, you guys just aren’t Division I” or they have to treat them with some semblance of equality. I mean, it’s all well and good to disregard teams that can’t beat Kansas, but this tournament is ultimately about one thing: huge, gigantic, massive piles of filthy lucre. So why reward the conferences full of “rich” teams at the expense of lesser guys? Isn’t finishing second in the NEC more relevant than finishing 8th in the Big East? The 5-8 teams in the Big East aren’t going to win the damn tournament either, after all.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Plus there has to be a little thought into the fact that it would be 30 more teams that no one has even heard of
Clubbzilla - March 18, 2010
Quite frankly
that’s the sort of thinking that led to K-State playing in the Alamo Bowl in 1998.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Dammit all, why did you have to bring that up?
Sean T - March 18, 2010
Every time I watch Drew Brees a part of me dies.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Another thing we have learned
Seton Hall lost at home to Texas Tech and fired its coach. St. John’s lost to Memphis. Notre Dame lost to Old Dominion. Villanova should have lost to Robert Morris.
Big East FAIL.
Ascend, ye Big 12!!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
+1
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
So Sam Houston's best player is Puerto Rican
Man, boys from the island can BALL.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
DENIS FOR THREE!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Quick pace so far
with UNT not looking good on the offensive end.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I hate to say this
but I think Dom is our anchor.
GCat - March 18, 2010
And by that I mean
he’s what gonna cause us to sink sometime down the road.
GCat - March 18, 2010
No, that probably would be Lu
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I know what you're saying
but Dom affects a game more because he gets way more playing time.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah, and he also rebounds and causes turnovers
All things that help us win.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I had NO idea
UNT’s enrollment was so high. That’s obscene.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Yeah it's a big school.
And we travel to Denton this year for football too.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I thought that too
Good lord. Thank God for the Big XII affiliation for KSU, otherwise they would be bigger than us!
Sean T - March 18, 2010
McGruder
With the massive rejection!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
So, CK, Judge and Jamar have all looked pretty crappy so far
Not encouraging.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And Jake has missed two layups
What the crap is this? Did you guys not see any other scores from today?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Jamar looked great
on that post play. He needs to do that more.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
His jumper was awful
And the foul was stupid. It all cancels out.
Also, his rebounding has been so-so so far.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Damn
The Mean Green traveled pretty well. Very loud.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Yeah, that's sort of embarrassing for us
Not that I should talk, cause I only live two hours away, but after last week, I don’t have any money or vacation days left, or I absolutely would have gone.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I wanted to go
but I couldn’t talk TB into spending more money too.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
OKC's closer
to Denton than Manhattan. :/
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Yes, but our fan base is bigger and way more passionate
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
But once you get over 5,000
it’s all irrelevant. I mean, we can’t pack 60,000 people into Ford. ;)
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Also
there are probably some local Sooner douchebags who decided to wear green today.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I don't know
As close and big UNT is, UNT is considered third tier here in Dallas. SMU gets more publicity than UNT.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
With no audio, I can read Frank's lips much better.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
I give myself the blindfold everytime they show Frank
(you know, the eye version of ear muffs….)
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Eye muffs?
MadCat - March 18, 2010
It really aggravates me that during every timeout
they focus right on Frank. It’s not like every coach in America doesn’t drop bombs on their team.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Keep doing that
Pound it inside
clintox100 - March 18, 2010
This is just frightening
Murray led Vandy at the half. Sam Houston leads Baylor at the half.
The little guys are here to play today.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
When will I stop picking Vandy?
First Siena, now this. Lame.
So much for that Paramount Sports dude on 810. He said it was a lock that Vandy would crush MSU. That’s why I don’t gamble.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
But, but, but
you put Vandy on Upset Alert!!
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Yeah, but I still picked them in 2 of my 3 brackets
Mistake.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Don't feel bad
I did too.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I would just like to point out that I tagged both those games with Upset Alerts
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
jinx
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Dammit, Curtis, make your free throws
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Free throws might haunt us in this tournament.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah, the other team's
Way too many fouls right now for this caliber of opponent.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Curtis Kelly K-State's single season blocks leader?
Take that Jason Bennett!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Don’t you know that guys in the NBA now? LMFAO.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Bout damn time
Seems like we’ve been waiting for that all season.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And now Jamar has two fouls
Crap. It’s gonna be a battle, folks. Settle in.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Apparently it's inappropriate to yell the f-bomb
here at work. I may get fired today…
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I hope you're still employed.
Sean T - March 18, 2010
Jamar...
…you can’t reach over TWO guys, okay?
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
We're going to end up with
70 blocks this game.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Probably
And 35 fouls.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
What is with these moving picks?
Two now. Adjust to the refs, guys!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Martavious
doing some decent work.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Unless the Eagles start bombing from 3
I think we pull away. We’re so much taller and more physical than these guys. What do we have already, 5 blocks?
Just gotta stay outta foul trouble.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Might be too late for that.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah I agree
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
As I say that, Curtis gets tagged with his second
Craptastic.
It’s like everything is a foul just because we’re so much bigger than them.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Why doesn't that work on Trole Aldritch?
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Colon's gonna get tons of minutes today because of the fouls
Not good.
And as I type that, now Wally has two. Frak.
And why are we leaving shooters wide open on the wing?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
There's a guy in one of my bracket groups
who picked North Texas to win it.
I hope it’s not like the year a girl in one of my groups picked George Mason…..
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
That's just dumb
Seriously. 15s don’t even beat 2s, much less win games further in the tourney.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
There's a few odd picks in my office pool
Mostly on the Tiebreaker championship score. They range from 87-230….
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Bring on JHR!
GCat - March 18, 2010
Might have to
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Damn Judge got hacked
many many times
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Wally's kinda playing like a pansy again
Dunk the damn ball, frosh.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Nice move by Jake there
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Yeah get that Odufuwa kid outta there.
GCat - March 18, 2010
I love our guards
They finally realize they need to take over and quit letting the bigs screw everything up.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Jeez, St. Mary's just ripped off a 10-0 run
And there goes another low seed, off to the races.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I picked St. Mary's
they hammered Gonzaga in their tourney final.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Yep
Me too. I like how the finished the season
clintox100 - March 18, 2010
Yeah, but Richmond is really good
They whacked Mizzou, among others.
Best game of the first round, for my money.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Lu, rip that ball away
Enough of this jump ball pansy crap!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
LOL
Harlan and Bonner are man-crushing on us, big-time.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
We have a JHR sighting
Listening to Harlan try to say Henriquez-Roberts several times fast in a row = funny.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
We're going to win
that White kid is sitting there at the top of the key dribbling like he’s on an And1 tour.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
And another tie-up
MAN UP, bigs!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And now Wally has jammed his finger
Great.
I want to see the Dobermans come out in the second half and just tear these guys apart. We’re playing so week in the paint on offense right now.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Nick Russell getting
a little playing time.
GCat - March 18, 2010
For the guy that said Dom is our anchor
He is BY FAR our best player right now. Not even close. But thanks for jinxing him into excellence.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Hitting his free throws, too
I love this Dom.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I believe your feed is 30 seconds ahead of mine.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Yeah, it's called live TV
It’s nice. :-)
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
It will be on Saturday!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
DUNK IT HARDER DOM
Damn that boy is soft.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
At least he got to the line
Instead of getting another namby-pamby tie-up.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And then
he dribbles it out of bounds with a nice pump fake…
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Yeah
I was about to take credit for that. I’m definitely saying that every game. He’s been big time today.
GCat - March 18, 2010
12-point lead
Don’t look now, but we’re doing better in our first-round game, with massive foul trouble, than any other team in the country thus far.
Suck it, haters. I’m talking to you, Paramount Sports guy who picked N. Texas to cover, and you, Kevin Kietzman, you used doucherag.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Now Dom has two
Can this freaking half end already?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Baylor stepped on the gas
got up by 6 for a minute
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
The fact that a 6-point lead constitutes "the gas"
against a 14 seed tells how much parity there is this year.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
How many other teams
will be able to say they used 11 guys in the first half? We might be the deepest team in the country.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Bingo
BYU is gonna die of fatigue Saturday.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah especially
after double OT.
GCat - March 18, 2010
They have the advantage of the higher altitude.
So they’ve got that working out for them.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Finish the shot, Jordan
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I think Kevin Harlan
wants to have Jake’s babies.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
If he can keep up with his speed...
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I want to have JHR's babies
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
That may be the first time I have ever said
“Yeah, Lu!”
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Hehe
True.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Jordan HenFREAKez-Roberts has completely blown this game open
Singlehandedly. What a beast in the making.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Somebody get him some whey protein stat!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
And he is a real nice guy, just misses the NY food
Anon_the_younger - March 18, 2010
35-18 Cats
FEAR THE BEARD!!!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
35-21
This would be a good football score, come November.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
This could get ugly.
GCat - March 18, 2010
I hope so
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I think our foul trouble is going to help us in the end
by keeping our bigs on the bench, they’ll have fresher legs come saturday….
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Oh, when Kelly and Slamuels come back
We’re gonna blow this thing WIDE open.
JamSam barely played.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Good theory
I like it.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Denis from deep
EN FUEGO!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
"You can't guard that. You just have to hope that he misses the shot."
Astute observation by Dan Bonner.
UNT’s only points are coming at the line. Stop. Fouling.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Shit, if Jake and Denis stay this fracking hot
We will be in the Final Four, no question.
Wow. This is amazing.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
It makes you realize how good Big 12 teams are on defense
Because we haven’t had looks like this since December.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I think you hit
the nail on the head there.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Save some of that for later!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
That was yet another FUGLY end to the half
again – is this what Frank is drawing up?
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
I just don't think they listen
Because there is no way he’s drawing up stuff like what they actually do.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Denis shot
was embarrasing
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Wow, Baylor's in some trouble
12 turnovers. Dunn has 4 fouls and 5 points.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I guess SHSU is baffling them with a triangle-and-two
Hm, sounds familiar.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
No kidding.
How many teams start to play a triangle and 2 on us from here on out just because KU has been successful against us with it?
GCat - March 18, 2010
After today?
All of them.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And now Murray-Vandy is turning into a classic.
Great day of hoops so far, gotta insist.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
That last shot was just sick.
Onions!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
VANDY DOWN
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Wow. Good game.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Awesome buzzer beater.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Damn, game is back but CBS is on ad break
Dumbasses. They stayed with Murray and then went to ads. What?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
OK, it's back
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Okay, now I'm really confused.
I’m watching live TV. How are you 30 seconds ahead of me?
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I have no earthly idea
Cox is weird that way.
I’m on analog, not digital, if that helps.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
And I'm on Dish
which probably has something to do with it as well.
…then again, maybe it’s the Tulsa affiliate, too.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I am on Time Warner...3 CBS channels all showing the same damn game...of K-State is not it.
Had to watch HD feed online from CBS so at least thanks for that.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
I bet Jake practices
falling after the layups since he gets fouled a lot. He looks smooth on the way down.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Heh
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Dom and CK already have 3?
Jeez, just stay with the freshmen.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
and merriewether
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Frank is one of the four finalists for Naismith Coach of the Year!
Harlan just said it.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I would break something tasteful if he wasn't
Sean T - March 18, 2010
I'm glad I made an upset bracket for my office pool...
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Me too
Just for fun, though.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Baylor still tied 55-55
Might wanna put Dunn back in…
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Denis with an OU reprise
FEAR THE MOP!!!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Thus far
every lower seed has at least been tied with 3 minutes or less remaining.
Wow.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Except us.
Bank it. This game is over.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
See?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Judge with a nice turnaround
excellent…
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
And Baylor just said
“we’ve had enough of this crap, go home.”
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
About. Damn. Time.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
In case it wasn't obvious
I’m getting the Baylor game at the moment.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Should have bought Mega March Madness
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Eh
I’d have been watching the end of this game anyway, especially with us trashing UNT.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Denis sweeping the court again
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
JamSam with 4...
Ride the pine for the rest of the game son.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Man, he sucked today
Hope he got it all out of his system. We will need him in the later games.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
He took his 27 points from the Big 12 Tourney and now he is not playing in control.
If he calms down and plays smartly he can make contributions deep into the NCAA.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Baylor officially through.
Sam Houston lost because they shot the three as badly as Denis and Jake have been known to do when we’re all screaming at them to stop it.
And now I’m getting Richmond-St. Mary’s.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
YESS!!!!
MCGRUBER’S SHOT IS BACK!!!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
McGruder for THREE!!!
It’s been way too long since I’ve said that…
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
No crap...
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
NCAA interim president Jim Isch in attendance
That can’t hurt. Of course, he’s a KSU grad.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Clemente + Pullen = 0 turnovers so far
That will win you a lot of games.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
OMG! YOU BASTARDS! YOU KILLED PULLEN!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Not dead...mostly dead.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Get him to Miracle Max, stat!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
That was textbook clothesline in the replay...though unintentional.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Shit
Pullen went down hard
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Right on the tail bone.
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Matt Dellavadova of St. Mary's
and Booger from Revenge of the Nerds: separated at birth.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I'll take your word for it
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
WALLLLEEEE!!!!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Ok no more funny posts...
its taking everything in me to not laugh and i’m in a small class of like 10 guys so its getting hard to hide
Clubbzilla - March 18, 2010
Stop breaking our players!
Now I know why they call them the MEAN Green.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Pullen has an elbow contusion, Harlan just said
Grrr…
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Hey Hollywood,
Get the Iceman! Jake’s hurt!
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Denis' first turnover of the game
With 10 minutes left. I can live with that.
The subsequent 3, however, enrages me.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Colon was no help on not handling the pass.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Wow, this is a hella physical game
BYU wants no part of what we’re dishing up, I think.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
As long as the refs let us play.
B/C BYU shoots lights out from the free throw line.
GCat - March 18, 2010
Jake's back!
Yay!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Have the Sat. game times been released yet?
goksucats - March 18, 2010
No
Probably get them late tonight.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
You know who's REALLY overrated?
The SEC.
Florida’s out, Vandy’s out and I won’t be shocked one bit if San Diego State beats Tennessee.
Kentucky had a cakewalk this year.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Big East almost started 0--2 as well.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
If Georgetown loses this game
1-2 won’t look much better.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
LOL Big East.
I had Georgetown in my Sweet Sixteen, but if San Diego State upsets Tennessee losing the Hoyas shouldn’t hurt me at all in the end… ’cause, really, who had Ohio or SDSU escaping this weekend anyway?
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
1-2 it is...Villanova really would have been surprising.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
1-3 now
Big East TRIPLE FAIL.
Guess the Big 12 was No. 1 after all, huh?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Good luck getting ESPN to admit their mistake
Sean T - March 19, 2010
St. Mary's up by 15 now
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
A 26-point lead has been cut to 14
Wake up, Cats. It’s not over yet.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Oh, good
The Beard is back.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Da Beard!
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Nice moves
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Wow, classic Frank
Even the greaseboard was afraid there. Probably because he was jabbing it.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Wow, Kelly CAN dunk
Who knew?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I'm n ur backcourt stealzin ur basketballz
MadCat - March 18, 2010
FINALLY, KOTV sends me back to OKC.
Bastards.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
I love that BYU is sitting on the bleachers watching what they face.
2 OT with a weak Florida and now they see something that is most definitely putting the fear of God…errr… heavenly father into them
Clubbzilla - March 18, 2010
Maybe Frank can drive them to drink...
(Don’t drink and drive.)
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Just a splash of whiskey
in their Postum?
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
BYU might want to rethink a face mask
Player with the smashed eye socket probably getting worried
DrJoy - March 18, 2010
The stuff that makes me scream
CK and Wally going up for an uncontested rebound together… and muffing it out of bounds.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Doberman friendly fire!
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Have the dogs been called off?
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah, all the starters are parked.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Nick Russell for 3!
Does everyone have one now? Irving?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Colon?
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Snort
I meant every guard, obviously.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Whew...prefer the 20pt win to the close one.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
Mr. President's bracket is doing better than mine.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
My Sweet Sixteen is still intact
so it’s all good. So far.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Mine too.
MadCat - March 18, 2010
I'm just missing Vandy
Should have followed my instincts. Oh, well.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I have UTEP in the sweet 16...
mystman995 - March 18, 2010
Never go against Butler...have you seen many Tourneys?
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
So true
This morning, I had Butler in the Sweet 16, then changed it at the last minute for UTEP.
D’oh.
To make matters worse, I didn’t want UTEP in the Sweet 16, so I put Vandy there.
Double d’oh!
Should have just stuck with what I had.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
You go against Gonzaga as well...bad mojo will follow.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Meh
Syracuse will clean up the mess either way.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Good win, but not exactly a good game for the Cats
Happy to see them win it, even with JamSam and Kelly not doing well. Bring on the Crackers!
Sean T - March 18, 2010
I thought it was a great game by the Cats...great offensive rotation...good looks...rebounding.
The only time UNT was a threat was the first 7 minutes and during injury time for Pullen. Otherwise they were dominated in the paint and on the perimeter defensively. I will take six more just like it.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
I'm more worried about the FTs given up and their offensive rebounds
However, you’re probably right. Even with those two issues the Cats still smoked a respectable team. I loved the FG defense if only they hadn’t fouled.
Sean T - March 18, 2010
Luckily, we only need five more
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
5 or 6...whatever it takes.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
With new life in overtime
Texas is pulling away.
Lookin’ good for the Big 12 so far…
And we beat our scrub by 4 points more than KU did. I count that as a moral victory.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Third overtime game today
More than the entire tourney last year.
Kudos to the committee — good match-ups this year.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
It's been entertaining
not quite as “OMFG” as the Tampa Massacre in 2008, but outside of that I can’t remember a day as topsy-turvy as this one.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
And that last shot right there was even more
OMFG.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Seven lower-seeded teams have won
Will Montana make it eight?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I think, perhaps, the more impressive thing
is that the lower seed has only been clearly outclassed in four of the sixteen games, and three of those were 15/16 seeds.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
ETSU, North Texas, Lehigh and...?
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
I guess UTEP got housed pretty good
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Yeah
Butler bent ’em over in the second half.
jonfmorse - March 18, 2010
Spoke too soon
Gary Johnson misses two free throws with a 1-point lead.
F**k Texas. Can’t do anything right.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Texas lost on their inability to hit FT's...insert one of my rants here.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
I knew you would chime in eventually
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Well Texas looked like...Texas.
On the other hand minus a couple possessions we looked like a #2 seed. Let’s hope that continues against BYU. I think we will take a step up in competition on Saturday.
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
Oh, no doubt
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
BYU to me seems a lot like either Okie State or Baylor. Any thoughts?
Catbacker98 - March 18, 2010
They're nowhere near as talented
More like Nebraska.
BracketCat - March 19, 2010
Failures
I blame Rick Barnes. What a waste of talent.
giantslor - March 19, 2010
Our game Saturday is the late game
Tips at 8:10 EST.
BracketCat - March 18, 2010
Heh, finally fixed the stupid logo at the top.
