Star-divide

First of all, apologies for the site going dark yesterday.  I was out of town and the other authors were variously occupied with real-life pursuits, so no Slate or any other posts yesterday.  We'll try to make up for it today.

Football

Austin Meek, Topeka Capital-Journal -- KSU tries new scheduling recipe: Excellent job by Meek of finding a fresh story angle.  Bash him all you want, but "Bill Snyder-style" scheduling is such a phenomenon now that it's getting more expensive for schools to schedule patsies at home.

Quickly: The TCJ's notes section discusses sacks, the curious case of Sammuel Lamur, sleeping on planes, and the next Snyder ... Daniel Thomas says to expect a lot more Wildcat formations against UCLA ... Speaking of Thomas, Meek writes that he was the positive K-State fans can take from the Louisiana game ... Kevin Haskin on K-State's travel bug in the non-conference schedule.

Volleyball

After looking good in losses to Minnesota and Michigan to begin the season, the K-State volleyball team is sliding downhill quickly.  On Wednesday, the Wildcats dropped their opening Big 12 matchup at home to perennial doormat Oklahoma.  It doesn't get easier this weekend, as K-State travels to Waco, Texas, (my favorite city in the whole wide world...not) to play ranked Baylor.

UCLA

So we thought true freshman Richard Brehaut would be starting for UCLA on Saturday, but apparently Rick Neuheisel is not so sure now.  Meanwhile, ryebrearaz has three keys for UCLA to beat K-State this weekend.

Around the Blogosphere

From Bill C. at Rock M Nation, this week's BTBS Box Scores for the Big 12.  If you love Sabermetrics in baseball, get ready for the football version.  Just make sure to read the primer first.

Meanwhile, an interesting perspective from our friend Curtis Kitchen over at 810 WHB.  Kitchen believes Snyder should focus on recruiting, not on coaching, this season by drawing some parallels between the 2009 Wildcats and the 1997 Oklahoma Sooners.  Good stuff, as always, from Curt.

The Fourum

Link.

Shouting "Everyone turn away!" before kissing your girlfriend has the opposite of the intended effect.

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you there lurking on the periphery of my vision, but when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you do you return to the center of my eye. Oh squiggly line, it is all right. You are forgiven.

Hey, why is it that most Christian songs talk about Jesus?

I'm thinking of making a Youtube video screaming, "Leave Beth alone!"

Note: If anybody does make a "Leave Beth alone!" video on YouTube, I promise we will post it here on BOTC.

Speaking of YouTube videos I will post, this is exactly why Nebraska fans will always be near and dear to our hearts.  When the 10th word of the video is "faggots" and is titled "A reality check for the K-State fags," you know the video is going to be good.

Why KSU is always going to be a doormat. (via eternaldeadman)

Keep representing all that is good up in Nebraska, eternaldeadman!

Fritchen at GPC said Kevin Craft took most of the snaps at the last two days of practice

If true, you have to like that match-up against our ball-hawking DBs.

Craft threw a school-record 20 interceptions last year, versus only seven touchdowns.

RE: Fritchen at GPC said Kevin Craft took most of the snaps at the last two days of practice

I like that as well concerning the 20 picks. The one thing I did hear though that could change that stat is their O-Line last year was very suspect from injuries to skill level. I guess this year they went out and fixed that issue.

Just what I heard but I am like you I like Tyson Hartman’s chances of getting at least one pick tomorrow night.

Eternaldeadman

Eternaldeadman is so happy that his mom bought him a webcam for his birthday! Now he can sit in her basement for hours… by himself… and speak on topics that he clearly does not understand. And using the word “faggots” is always good when you’re looking to gain credibility.

Mr. Eternaldeadman, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

+10

Extra points for the Billy Madison quote.

Since 1997....

Guess how many teams have beat a top 20 team on the road? All but two, those two teams are Duke and Nebraska.

Isn't it Top 20 teams, period?

Road and home? That’s what I seem to remember…

Also, I think that's just among BCS teams

Obviously, lots of Sun Belt and MAC teams haven’t done it, either.

And I think it's since 2001, not 1997

Because Nebraska’s last Top 20 win was over Top 5 Oklahoma in 2001.
