Sorry the thread is late...
…golf ran a little longer than I had planned.
Don’t like seeing Rice already up 2-1. Let’s get those bats going!
TB - June 1, 2009
Slacker
how was Manhattan? Or are you still in the little apple?
JLew - June 1, 2009
Just a day trip...
…hacked it around Colbert Hills and grabbed a burger and lime-aid at Vista. Back in KC now.
Manhattan changes every time I see it. Of course, I haven’t been there since January, so that’s not surprising.
TB - June 1, 2009
Damn I should have played with you today
it was beautiful out.
JLew - June 1, 2009
I played on Saturday...
…but if I’m back in town sometime, I’ll let you know.
TB - June 1, 2009
Two straight HBP...
…loads the bases with one out.
Bloxom coming to the plate.
TB - June 1, 2009
i like our chances tonight
but i was just too tired tonight to make another trip to Reckling.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
Can't blame you there...
…just wish I was still in town so I could go.
Bloxom with an RBI on a FC to tie the game. Two down, runners at the corners. Wayne Graham is making a pitching change.
TB - June 1, 2009
that didn't take too long
rice’s weakness is the bullpen and we are into it early.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
Tied up at 2
good sign to see State get to the Rice’s pitching early.
JLew - June 1, 2009
when graham walks out to the mound
you have enough time to take a piss. he reminds me of Tim Conway on the old Carol Burnett shows (before your time)
Houcat - June 1, 2009
No kidding
He really looks like a cranky old man shuffling to the mound.
Agreed, I like to see Graham going to the mound already. We just missed a two-out RBI there when Soltzpaugh made the catch in center.
TB - June 1, 2009
looks like Rooke is settling down
Brad Hill said he works better when he comes in and there are no men on base.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
wrote too soon?
Houcat - June 1, 2009
Got the next guy
He’s pitching pretty well. I’ll take it.
TB - June 1, 2009
BTW - spend 10 minutes talking to Hill on Friday
great guy. glad he is ours. nothing but good things and very likeable.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
I met Hill...
…about three years ago at Manhattan CC. Very nice guy. I’m told he doesn’t drink, smoke or curse. Seems odd for a baseball guy, but good for him. He was very friendly to me.
TB - June 1, 2009
This radio guy for Rice...
…is galaxies better than the guy on the Saturday webcast.
TB - June 1, 2009
Cruz is making...
…Reckling (the pitcher) work hard at Reckling (the park). Draws a walk after typical Rice pitcher stalling. I’ve never seen pitchers work more slowly than Rice’s.
TB - June 1, 2009
There are...
…an awful lot of umpires wearing Rice’s blue and gray in the stands. My favorite thus far:
“YOU ARE A TERRIBLE UMPIRE!”
C’mon, man, I expect more from Rice fans.
TB - June 1, 2009
Yelovich tries a drag bunt...
…but pushes it just a little too hard down the third-base line and is out to end the inning. Still tied at 2.
TB - June 1, 2009
The Rice fans are pretty good
at least the ones i sat by. Very knowledgeable.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
I don't doubt you...
…but it’s the dumb ones that the telecast picks up.
TB - June 1, 2009
did you hear the rice announcer say
that Berry was available for 3 innings tonight? I wonder about Morris. Think we could see him?
Houcat - June 1, 2009
I was shocked to hear that
Not just surprised, but shocked. Berry threw almost 120 pitches on Saturday. I wouldn’t have figured he was available at all. I had written Morris off as unavailable.
Anyone listening to the K-State broadcast? Has Smoller or anyone said anything about Morris being available for any length of time tonight?
TB - June 1, 2009
Rooke loses the batter after being ahead 3-2...
…now runners on 1st and 2nd. I have to imagine the leash is going to be really short, but the Rice announcers haven’t said anything about anyone throwing in the pen.
TB - June 1, 2009
Never mind...
…they’re already making a change. Hill is bringing in James Allen.
TB - June 1, 2009
unbelievable

Houcat - June 1, 2009
God. Damn. It.
Sacrifice bunt, throw late to first, runner at second scores. What a disaster.
TB - June 1, 2009
Allen gets a K
That’s huge. One down, runners at 1st and 2nd.
TB - June 1, 2009
This is the big inning we can't afford...
…Rice has three runs in and only one out.
TB - June 1, 2009
Very frustrating right now...
…Allen is getting ahead in the count, but he can’t put the batters away.
TB - June 1, 2009
Seastrunk with a three-run jack...
…and we’re pretty much f’d.
TB - June 1, 2009
yeah pretty much that's that.
only hope is to answer back with a few runs here
JLew - June 1, 2009
And another hit...
…c’mon Brad, get Allen out of there.
TB - June 1, 2009
Damn
I was hoping you would be able to pull out this regional. I won’t give up yet, but it sure looks bad…
Texas Wahoo - June 1, 2009
Thanks
The only bright spot is we’re into Rice’s bullpen, which apparently isn’t all that great. But we’ve definitely dug ourselves a hole.
TB - June 1, 2009
By the way...
…congrats on getting to the Supers. Helluva regionall y’all had.
TB - June 1, 2009
You're telling me
I wish I had been there for it – atmosphere looked amazing on the video feed.
Whatever happens in this game for KState, it looks like a good first regional – something to build on.
Texas Wahoo - June 1, 2009
I keep reminding myself of that...
…even if we don’t make it to Baton Rouge, we’ve still had one helluva season for a school that had never been to the tournament before. Hill is doing good work in Manhattan.
TB - June 1, 2009
Yeah - Rice has been more of a hitting team this year
They have pitching talent, but because of injuries/struggles, they have not relied on it as much this year.
Texas Wahoo - June 1, 2009
Martini with a two-out single...
…he’s going to be a good player the next few years.
TB - June 1, 2009
And a passed ball gets Martini into scoring position...
…c’mon Blox.
TB - June 1, 2009
Never mind, groundout ends the inning
TB - June 1, 2009
Fuda leads off with a single...
…I’m guessing this will just about do it for Allen.
TB - June 1, 2009
And...
…yep. Looks like Lance Hoge is coming in.
Rice radio just announced Oklahoma State leads 3-2.
TB - June 1, 2009
Sac bunt, one out, runner at 2nd
TB - June 1, 2009
What in hell are we doing?
We’re just self-imploding right now. Simple single to left, scores the runner, somehow the batter ends up at third.
TB - June 1, 2009
I give up
It’s now 10-2 Rice.
TB - June 1, 2009
Go have a drink.
Great season.
JLew - June 1, 2009
Good idea
I’m gonna grab a shower and a cocktail.
TB - June 1, 2009
By the way, JLew...
…and anyone else, really…you going to the CWS? I’ll be there the first weekend.
TB - June 1, 2009
Probably not
I’ll let you know if I am though
JLew - June 1, 2009
it was a good year
something to build on. Morris and Bloxum will be drafted and we have a good recruiting class, good facilities and a very good coach.
Houcat - June 1, 2009
Agreed, gotta remember the (many) positives
TB - June 1, 2009
Thank to you all for the thread.
I was at Little League all night tonight. Thanks for the the thread that let me follow through the game. Sorry we couldn’t get to the next level. Can’t wait for football to start.
Brian
ohiocats84 - June 1, 2009
13-4 was the final
Still, again, a great year for K-State. It’ll be interesting to see if they can build on this for next year.
