Who: Wally Judge
What: 2009 Jordan Brand Classic
Where: New York, New York | Madison Square Garden (19,763)
When: April 18, 2009 @ 7:00 PM CST
Media: ESPN2 | ESPN360
We finally get another game on ESPN2...kind of. Kansas State commit, Wally Judge, will compete with many of the same players that he did in the McDonald's All-American game (or was supposed to before he got hurt).
Tune in and see one of the future players test himself against some of the best competition prep basketball has to offer, and toss around various unreasonable expectations and/or criticisms.

Won't be around for this one...
…but I fired up the trusty DVR so I can catch the action when I return. Go Wally!
TB - April 18, 2009
Let's get this shit started
Baseball team stubbed their toe, so it’s basketball season again for me!
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Kinda some screwy starting lineups
I haven’t even heard of some of these starters, while Rivals Top 10 guys are coming off the bench. Weird.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Yeah, it's kind of a bummer that Wally isn't starting...
but at least we’ll see him play.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Wow. Nice look by Wall.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
About two minutes in, and I feel safe in saying...
that this is some of the shittiest basketball I’ve ever seen. Who’s coaching these guys? Erik Spolestra?
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Word
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
How does ESPN have John Wall at #5?
He’s better than anyone in this class.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Wally's in. He had some nice moves on the post, but he traveled on the baseline.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
WALLY!
#33
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
"Why Kansas State?"
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Michael Beasley - worth his weight in gold
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
I'm sorry, but that exchange reeked of ignorance.
However, it was nice that they stopped sucking Carolina dong for a few minutes.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Yeah, but I'm in too good of a mood to bitch about it
This commentator is definitely one of ESPiN’s worst, tho.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Yeah, let's keep asking that question. Maybe you'll keep saying our name enough that we'll become "big time"
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
First impressions...
Wally is a legit 6’8" or 6’9". He has a long, lean frame. Smooth moves on the post assisted by a long wingspan.
I salivate at what Greenwalt will do with this kid after two years.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
He runs very well and is active on the inside.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
If he stays that long...
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
He'll be at KSU for at least two years...
He won’t have the numbers to go next year. Clemete/Pullen/Kelly will dominate the stats. Judge and Samuels will provide the fireworks.
The following year…it’s on like Donkey Kong.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
We'll see...
I’m hoping for two years but not much more.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
If I were a betting man, I'd say he'll be at KSU for three years.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
These kids aren't even attempting to run sets
It’s like a pickup game at the YMCA
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Even for an All-American game, this is bad
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Note to Xavier Henry...GO TO KENTUCKY
John Calipari is a great human being, and you, John Wall, and DeMarcus Cousins need to play together. Don’t go to KU and waste your time.
Thank you. I’m 100% serious. Kentucky needs you. Go there and not that craphole, Lawrence.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
I'm Bill Self and I approved this message.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
He really is Bill Self, Xaver. He's telling you to go be with your real family.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Wally vs. Cousins
Coming up.
I’m not too intimidated by Gallon right now, BTW.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
He looked a lot better in the Cheeseburger game
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Wally for 3?
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Wally with a face up three...
Nice stroke, big guy.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Wally with a bank shot at the elbow...nice shot.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Great touch on the mid-range jumper, too
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
He could be the missing piece that we need...
I’m so excited to see Samuels, Judge, and Kelly on the floor at the same time. Wow.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Don't discount POTY McGruder, either
Dude can score from anywhere on the floor.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
I love Rod's long-term prospects...
He’s just going to be a bench guy next year. Clemente/Pullen will be a tough combo with another year between them.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
DISAGREE
McGruder will be impact player next year.
I think he could play the 3 for us. If nothing else, we need more than 2 guards, and rumors are flying fast and furious about Buchi and Fred. The minutes will be available.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
It's official
Tommy-Mason Griffin (TMG) is gonna be the next Drew Lavender. I can tell already.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
With the SICK alley-oop to Judge
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
WALLY CAN HIT HIS FREE THROWS
REJOICE!!! HALLELUJAH!!!
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Holy cow...Wally went behind the back on transition...
He may be better than I thought…two years may be too many…
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Man, Orton is a beast
Uk is gonna be off the charts good, especially if they land Wall and Henry and return Meeks and Patterson.
Plus they upgraded coaching, too.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Calipari will build a monster at Kentucky...
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
It appears ESPN would agree with me that
Wally has had the single most impressive dunk in this game.
They’ve only shown it 17 more times. :-)
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Renardo Sidney is legit
Reminds me of Bill a little. USC will need to lean on him a ton, since they lose Gibson, Hackett and DeRozen and Solomon Hill bailed back to Arizona.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Hey, don't break our Judge!
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
I just caught up a bit...
Jimmy Dykes: “Dalonte Hill keeps bringing those players to Manhattan, KS, which isn’t easy to do.”
Actually, Jimmy, it’s not that bad. It’s actually a pretty nice place, and most kids that visit commit.
(Sorry, Bracket, but Jimmy is one of my least favorite commentators, and he gets under my skin.)
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Sorry?
I agreed with you:
“This commentator is definitely one of ESPiN’s worst, tho.”
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
I hate bitching about the media conspiracy against KSU...
And I didn’t want to mess with your good mood. :)
Anyway, Jimmy Dykes is just a tool. Everything he’s said about KSU has been negative tonight.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
"Texas had that Final Four look about them this year"
WTF? That may be the single stupidest thing I have ever heard an ESPiN moron say.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
This whole broadcast reeks of JV quality.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Update: Wally Judge is good.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
I can just see Jimmy Dykes eating paste during commercial breaks...
I think Texas A&M in the “Adventures” series just found a face.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Verdict: The morons "like the Judge kid going to K-State."
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
My reaction to tonight's "coverage"
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Well, Jimmy did say he was from Arkansas
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
I'm way behind you guys...
….still 10 minutes to go in the first half, but these announcers are already making me sick.
They just talked about John Calipari building Memphis with the “table scraps” left over by schools like North Carolina, etc.
REALLY?!
TB - April 18, 2009
Derrick Rose was not fucking table scraps...
Jesus. Jimmy is suck a fucking dipshit.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Yeah, he only...
…scored 36 points in his first-ever NBA playoff game today. What a scrub.
TB - April 18, 2009
5 signed players for the Big 12 = "Oklahoma heavy and Texas heavy"
I count 2 for OU, 2 for UT and 1 for us.
Fucktards.
Oh, and 0 for KU.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Is it wrong if I want Jimmy Dykes to get hit by a bus?
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
I am really, really tired...
…of them talking about how Kentucky will be preseason #1 next year if Patterson and Meeks come back, with Cousins and whoever else coming in.
Easy there, cowboy. Let’s take it easy before we anoint them just yet.
TB - April 18, 2009
I agree
I despise KU, but no way they should not be #1. Experienced veterans > talented frosh every time.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Every KU fan that heard that just puckered their buttholes a bit.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Jimmy just listed the studs of the '07 class
Rose, Mayo, Love … and BAYLESS?
Uh, heard of MICHAEL BEASLEY, dumbass?
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Can't wait to hear that one
Jarryd Bayless…wow.
TB - April 18, 2009
Verdict: Wally was one of the best five players on the floor tonight.
Best player: John Wall.
Wall is Derrick Rose, but better.
Bracket…thoughts?
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
Pretty much agree
Very much impressed with Sidney, Cousins and Orton.
I thought Bradley, Plumlee and Henry played better in Miami.
Wally slightly exceeded my expectations. Gotta love that he banged his elbow ON THE RIM and had to leave at the end.
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
I loved the earlier exchange...
…where one of the announcers said these players are in for an eye-opening day when they go through their first college practice.
Other guy: Why?
Why?!?!?! Umm, because they’ll be playing a bunch of guys who were good in high school, with a coach who doesn’t give a shit about their ego. God in heaven.
TB - April 18, 2009
Yeah, that was classic
BracketCat - April 18, 2009
Thoughts on Judge...
Biggest strength: Runs the floor better than anyone I’ve seen over 6’8" in a long time. Even better than Mike.
Other strengths: Long athlete with potential to put muscle on his frame. Could be a supreme athletic big man. Think Rudy Gay.
Biggest weakness: Seems lackadaisical and takes plays off. He kind of spaces on defense from time to time, but Frank will correct that.
Overall: Great player with solid upside. Will most likely start next year on the blocks with Curtis Kelly.
Panjandrum - April 18, 2009
I definitely noticed that he was usually the 1st or 2nd down the floor, every time
He’ll fit in well in our uptempo offense.
