Tonight's opponent is 0-9 after its thrashing Saturday at the hands of Missouri.
The Golden Lions have a sub-250 RPI. This is as close to a must-win game as we will have all season.
Don't know what else to say after that. Anyone else even planning to watch this one? I will, just because we're likely to break 100 and Wally Judge could have some fireworks.
Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

I'll watch if I can get the stream
Sure I’ll watch. I’ve missed the cats too much this year, and hey, a good butt-kicking is almost as much fun as watching KU lose. Almost.

Try hpnutty
Should work fine tonight.

BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Thanks. Enjoy the game.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
It's also on ESPN360, I believe
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
How on earth
does this game get on 360, but not the Alabama game? Sigh.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
Rights
South Alabama had the rights on Saturday, and their TV package sucks.
Home games are much easier to promote.
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
I’m going to watch. I haven’t seen a game since the Washington State game, where my seat wasn’t good.
AMS - December 21, 2009
Pullen is doing his best AJ Abrams impression...
complete with sleeve.
8 points so far.
Jake 8 – UAPB 4
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
He actually debuted the sleeve against Bama, I think
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Pullen for All-American
I think it is a lock if he plays this well the rest of the year. Probably not first-team, but certainly 2nd or 3rd.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
The way Beasley for Player of the Year was a lock?
Never underestimate the ability of K-State to get screwed.
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
True
You can’t underestimate the Hansborough (Beasley was better)/Tebow (NOT a Heisman finalist his last year)/Crouch (how in the heck did he win a Hesiman?) affect. Been around for ever, everyone knows him…
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Merriweather for three...
THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US!!! GET YOUR HELMETS!!!
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
Sutton hits two FT's, KSU up 15-10
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
OMG...sick dish by Jake that lead to a foul call...
He got game.
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
Sweet work on the dunk
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Very elite run here...
Great defense, excellent transition offense, and imposing your will via athleticism.
That’s a Top 15 team right there.
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
Apparently, the open game thread has gone on winter break as well.
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
Sorry PJ
I’m all wrapped up watching a team that sure doesn’t look like one of the worst in the country. Man they fight hard.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Right now it looks like
the only things were better at than they are is shooting threes and forcing turnovers.
Not that either of those things is inconsequential, but I’d expect more statistical dominance here.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
No, I'm not speaking to you specifically. Just an overall comment.
Panjandrum - December 21, 2009
KSU leads the country in FT attempts per game?
Too bad they also don’t lead the country in make %. Already 13 attempts in this one.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Ugly first half
Frank: “The way we played was a disgrace to the game. We got annihilated on the rebounds and some guys need to grow up.”
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Weird OTL feature
What the heck?
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Que es?
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
No white Americans in the NBA
It starts off with an interview with an all American guard from ND who didn’t get any NBA time. He thinks it is because he’s white. The interviews are saying it is because white Americans (but not white international players?) aren’t physically talented enough. Weird.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
MacAlarney didn't get a chance
Because he likes the chronic. Period. End of story.
Oh, and he’s not that good.
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Nooo...
Someone is blaming their deficiencies on the color of their skin? I was hoping for other game highlights from halftime.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
The only other important games
Kentucky slaughtered Drexel.
Oklahoma lost to UTEP (HAHAHAHAHA).
Oklahoma State/La Salle just under way.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
A blonde...
So during the cut away from the 1st half, they showed a blonde cat fan for about .23 seconds. Was there any significance to this particular fan?
GrumpyCat - December 21, 2009
Okay, this is how you start a half.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
Sutton with a steal and monster jam and the foul
And Frank started cracking up on the sideline. No shit. It was scary.
ANOTHER SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE!!!
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Even the commentators were pointing it out!
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Jamar Samuels hits a 3!
You better start praying! The end is nigh!
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Score Update Please
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
Cats up big 54-35
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Thanks
Just tuned in to ESPN gamewatch. Cats getting out rebounded and they have 5 blocks?
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
They being ARK-PB.
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
Yeah
UAPB was all over the boards early on, but this is looking better now. Martin is not going to be happy the 42% FG from UAPB. But KSU has gotten a lot of TOs from them too.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
13 of 21 for FT?
This is going to bit the Cats against a good team.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Like it did against UNLV and Alabama?
Oh, wait.
It’s all mental, folks. When they need to make them, they tend to make them.
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
I'm thinking UT, A&M and the Jay-chickens
But then, 57% from the floor would take care of them too.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Yep
I have been saying this all year. .800 should be the goal with 70%+ being acceptable.
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
And now Clemente misses.
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
Full TO followed by a Merriweather turnover...
Wonder what the look on Frank’s face looks like.
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
I don't like it when he's happy
I’m sure this will help the cats get their heads back in the game.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
ARK-PB scores two and the Pullen fouls...
Martin must be steaming…lead down to 14.
Catbacker98 - December 21, 2009
More fouls than FGs
Good lord this game is taking forever.
Sean T - December 21, 2009
Sorry for the absence, gents
Nice game by the Cats tonight, overall. Nothing impressive, but the game was never in doubt and they answered when they had to.
On a side note, today has been the biggest hits day since Pan debuted the Adventures of the Big 12. Thanks for reading and commenting, everyone.
TB - December 21, 2009
Happy to be here
I’m just irritated it took me so long to find this page. Good night
Sean T - December 21, 2009
I suppose we have to give some of the Huskers the credit for that?
Ugh.
Of course, being ranked No. 12 helps, too.
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
Nah, zero credit to the Huskers, really...
…mostly thanks to the new links deal with Sports Illustrated, and to Big 10 fans for posting links on their message board.
Rock M Nation and Double T Nation helped quite a bit, too.
TB - December 21, 2009
I like to think my constant flow of trivial basketball-related information helps, too
:-D
BracketCat - December 21, 2009
I've been meaning to tell you
I really enjoy the (mostly) daily updates. Really keeps the season in focus and helps orient the mind to where we really stand. Much appreciated.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
No problem
BracketCat - December 22, 2009
I had to bail at 8:30 to go play taxi
luckily, the Coffeyville radio affiliate stretches down here. Not real thrilled with allowing them to beat us in the second half, game in hand or not. That’s two games in a row we’ve gone into cruise control mode in the final 10 minutes. That’s fine against lesser teams, but it’ll come back to bite us in the ass if we get a nice lead against Big 12 teams and then relax. I hope Frank was chewing on some guys.
jonfmorse - December 21, 2009
BTW, watch out for UAPB.
They may go into their conference schedule winless, then turn around and make the tournament field. All things considered, they’ve been remarkably competitive; all but three of their games have been against power six schools, and they’ve pretty consistently lost by between 14-19 points. This non-conference schedule’s been a heck of a learning experience for them, and I’m actually going to be following them closely for the rest of the season.
