This is actually...

more accurate than you know.

Funny Stuff...I guess it's just hard to take it seriously when you guys make it so easy...

Recent History 101…there was this…

and this…

I guess since we are talking about basketball I should mention this…

which led to one of these…which if you guys ever get one, let me know.

Scoreboard gentleman…Have a good one and hopefully I helped fuel the fire a little bit today.

As I tell all of my Jayhawk friends...

I will be totally cool with KU claiming all of their recent success as long as they’re willing to place asterisks next their accomplishments for being on probation in both football and basketball during the timeframe of winning those titles.

With all due respect, I don’t find it to be coincidence when the greatest stretch of athletic success at KU happened while they had been slapped with the “Lack of Institutional” control tag.

Have a good day. Enjoy hate week.

Fair enough but...

I’m not putting an asterisk by it because no one else in the whole country gives a damn but Kansas State.

Plus the majority of the transgressions reported were from years prior to the time of Kansas’ recent success. The current teams are just paying the penalty which is fine by me as it hasn’t seem to play to much into the results.

Again though enjoyed the humor at our expense, you guys definitely have that market cornered : D

Nobody cares...

…because the local media covered it up and nobody outside the Great Plains knows anything about KU except what’s reported in the KC area and that they win the occasional national title in basketball. You think if some school in a major media market had been slapped with the second most serious sanction the NCAA can impose and that school went on to win a national title, it wouldn’t even be mentioned during the broadcast of that game? I respectfully disagree.

Also, I read the NCAA’s report, and it appears the violations that led to the latest round of sanctions against KU included, in part, improper benefits to a high-profile basketball recruit from the Oklahoma City area. Darnell Jackson was a fairly important piece of last year’s KU basketball team, was he not?

Some of the violations were football related...

and yes there was one related to Jackson. Absolutely he was a key part of the 2007-2008 team and he did serve a 9 game suspension in 2005 for said violations as determined by the NCAA. He served the suspension and was then reinstated, also by the NCAA.

As far as a media cover up to make Kansas look good, I don’t know…I’m not here to get in a pissing match…I was just trying to have some fun with you guys and support my team since you have such a good time bashing them.

It's not personal...

…because obviously this isn’t your personal fault, but I will note that it seems utterly shocking that Michael Beasley allegedly driving a Hummer around Manhattan was huge news, while Markieff Morris shooting a woman with a BB gun on campus was sort of given an eh, whatever treatment by the KC media. Same thing with the violations. When the report came out, the KC media reported the news and then…nothing. No continuing mention of them in later news stories. No columnists decrying a renegade program. Frank Martin didn’t even get to his first game as head coach before he was accused of being a cheater by Jason Whitlock and Joe Posnanski.

In all fairness there you've got a case of...

whose more worthy of being talked about Michael Beasley or Markieff Morris. Beasley was a tremendous talent, the best player in the country and Top NBA pick. Morris at this point is pretty much an unproven commodity. Until he proves otherwise guys like him are a dime a dozen and that might be why we heard so much more about Beasley as opposed to Morris.

As far as the mainstream media goes, your absolutely right it isn’t always fair, it is pretty biased and that goes beyond the scenario you’ve mentioned. Still though it doesn’t change anything that happened in the games.

Lest we forget

Another fairly important piece was Darrell “Shady” Arthur (what an apt nickname!), and his amazing algebra skills…

see below...

that stone has been tossed my friend

Well, that will certainly teach me to read all comments before I post

D’oh

Proof that...

Revisionist History I and Arrogance 100-600 do exist at KU;)

Arrogance...

I would like to think I’m not that, but if that’s the opinion you’ve formed I can’t change it.

Revisionist History…not exactly sure what you’re referring to…if it’s the NCAA Investigation, I don’t claim to be an expert but I doubt you are either. If it’s the photos, there is nothing revised in those : D

Personally...

I’ve formed no opinion of you in particular other than respect for keeping everything civil and good-natured. Which is how my last post was meant to be taken and I apologize if it came across as personal. However, I don’t believe that there exists a KU fan (and you may very well be the exception) without at least a shred of arrogance regarding the program. I am not an expert on the NCAA investigation, but it is interesting that the investigations from 1986 to the present warrant little to no discussion especially since good things happen at KU at precisely the same time as an NCAA investigation. Weird.

Well if that's how it was intended I can certainly appreciate a good natured jab...

I also have every intention of keeping things civil with you guys over here…I know for obvious reason you all will have fun at our expense and that’s fine, but what kind of fan would I be if I didn’t at least toss a little back. I think in general this board does a good job of that and I’ll continue to try my best to be your obnoxious but still respectful KU friend…or maybe I’ll just say counterpart.

As far as the arrogance piece that you still stand behind. With respect to the program you’re right we all have a little cockiness if you will. I am not the exception but in my own defense I just have to say it’s so damn hard not to be : )

On a more personal note…noticed you’re from Emporia, my family moved there after I went to KU, dad still lives there…not a bad little town.

I would expect nothing less...

than getting a little tossed back from our obnoxious counterparts. What fun would it be otherwise? Yeah, Emporia’s a nice little town I guess.

Well played Denver...

like you said, it’s all pretty hard to take seriously when the main argument seems to be based on infractions being the main component of success.

If they want to asterisk the national championship because Darnell Jackson’s closest family friend and only real father figure helped him out financially a few years ago, then that’s their perogative.

As for the football issues, I won’t dispute their legitimacy in any way – it was wrong and deserved punishment. But it also happened a few years ago and both the coaches and JUCO transfers involved are long gone. Again, asterisk away if you really believe those things aided in their winning the last two years.

I'm sorry. I totally forgot that Darrell Arthur couldn't pass a math class...

My bad.

Algebra was tricky

I think I only got an A- in that class….in 7th grade…..

At least he didn't fail TV.

It’s not just watching television, you know.

you've got to be kidding me...

nothing ever came of this…

Nothing ever came of it because if they actually dug...

KU would lose their title. The NCAA won’t go to that level of embarassment.

Had that happened before that season as opposed to after, I doubt Aruthr would have played another game at Kansas.

The Reggie Bush thing will never get resolved because the NCAA won’t go back and strip a national title from USC. It would be a complete acknowledgement that their enforcement is a sham.

This isn’t a direct knock on KU, per se. The Clearinghouse let him out, so that’s that. However, if they dug, he’d be ineligible, and KU would have to forefit their season. The NCAA would never, never, ever admit to screwing up that big.

Ugh..Reggie Bush...

I never liked him in college, but my true hatred started when he taunted Brian Urlacher in a 2006 (I think) game while scoring a touchdown to cut the Bears lead to like 21 or something late in the game. No sportsmanship for that guy. I hope he cracks many ribs the next time he goes diving into the endzone.

was he still a rookie when he did that...?
I want to say yes

it was during the ‘06-’07 season

that makes it worse...

I hated that too…I guess I’m sort of a closet Bears fan.

I'll accept that...

Arthur was cleared to play by the NCAA and so through no fault of their own KU had him on the team and then won the National Title. I guess the clearinghouse shouldn’t have f’d up…as it stands now and will forever we will still have the trophy, the banner and one more national title than you. : D

Selective enforcement by the NCAA?

Oh, never mind.

A good friend of mine played basketball in the DFW area and said everyone else in town considers it the dirtiest program in the state. Maybe that’s sour grapes given that they’ve won a lot lately, but when something like this happens, it’s hard to think there may not be some truth to the reports.

it's all a big game really...

AAU Ball, guys bouncing from HS to HS…it’s really become an ugly business.

.....

nothing’s showing up…

I will take asterisk #6

it looks most like a puckered up a-hole, best representing what happened to you when you realized Kansas was going to win the National Title last year overshadowing Kansas State once again.

All right…that was a low blow and I apologize. You are free to use whatever asterisk you determine appropriate although I’m fairly confident no one else will care.

good times guys…good times…

only a jayhawk

could distinguish that as a puckered up a-hole.

not that there’s anything wrong with that (it is KU after all)

*sorry

KU week after all

fair enough...

the only bad thing about basketball is it’ll be a short week for you guys.

I mean after you lose tomorrow what will you talk about then : D

How we got screwed and the fact that...

Cole Aldrich moves like Shrek.

love it....

I guess I just have to hope we win or else I don’t know what the hell I’ll talk about.

and he may move like Shrek, but he’s our Shrek so I guess that means I like green monsters.

I haven't been able to see any of KU's game this year

so I can’t make any comparisons.

The only thing I do know is that from the squad from last year, russel robinson looks like the g-baby from Hardball.

Eh, it’s the best picture of g-baby I could find

I can see it a bit...tough angle though...
Yeah it's a bad picture

but if you’ve seen and remembered the movie it’s pretty noticeable.

Hardball is my 12th favorite movie about baseball…..

never seen it...

but I may have to now…I got netflix for x-mas and am quickly realizing there aren’t a lot of good movies made anymore.

well I'm bot really recommending it

considering I don’t think I can honestly name 12 movies about baseball off the top of my head.

TV shows

are the key with Netflix. All kinds of good ones out there.

I got one for ya...

Frank Martin…

and I’ll avoid the cliche frankenstein reference and go with THIS!!

Frank Martin doesn't take s*** off anybody...

especially elephant s***! Dude’s SOL.
:D

YES

Excellent.

It's funny because it's true

Good work on this! I loved it. Happy KU hate week everyone!

Good times.

And props to Denverjhawk for taking most of it in stride. For a Jawhawk, he’s alright by me.
